GM to invest 1 Billion in Brazil Operations
General Motors to Invest $1 Billion in Brazil Operations -- Money to Come from U.S. Rescue ProgramBy Russ Dallen Latin American Herald Tribune staffSAO PAULO -- General Motors plans to invest $1 billion in Brazil to avoid the kind of problems the U.S. automaker is facing in its home market, said the beleaguered car maker.According to the president of GM Brazil-Mercosur, Jaime Ardila, the funding will come from the package of financial aid that the manufacturer will receive from the U.S. government and will be used to "complete the renovation of the line of products up to 2012. ""It wouldn't be logical to withdraw the investment from where we're growing, and our goal is to protect investments in emerging markets," he said in a statement published by the business daily Gazeta Mercantil.Meanwhile, he cut the company's revenue forecast for this year by 14% to $9.5 billion from $11 billion, as the economic crisis began to cause rapid slowdowns in sales.GM already announced three programs of paid leave, and Ardila added that GM Brazil "is going to wait and see how the market behaves in order to know what decision to take" with regard to possible...

Latin America and its Intruders
I have heard of Latin American people. I have heard that they are as much in love of soccer as in poetry. They are simple and hard-working and hospitable. I want to know more of them as they have a similarity with me, me who belongs to a country that has been ravaged by the intruders time and again and rebuilt too with or without their co-operation. Will anyone tell me which of the European country had devastated the Latin American countries the most and what were the effects?
strategic partnerships. welcome
on the road towards one and common world there will be many strategic partnerships possible on the way. but what will be the most important partners of Russia, Germany, France and Latin American. each of them with teir own strong cultures based on their own languages and cultural habits. how about india. Pakistan, Indonesia, Iran or the Arab countries. or Africa? many mixed strategies are open and so many cores possible for the economic and political constelations of our futures world. in the long run it will all be fine anyway, language will be very important in peaceful communication etween cultures and only mathmatics. i guess the news below are somehow related to these bug questions.
Finding partner
I really love Latin American Dancing. And cha cha is my favourite. But there is always problems and It's hard for me to find the mutual feeling just for the reason that I haven't found a suitable partner. I think that partner is really important. The feeling whether exciting or quiet can only be found between partners.I used to think that I can find a partner in my college. But there are no boys in my college that has the same interest with me. UHHHHH.......

His first period in office was characterized by a controversial program of land reform and wealth redistribution, hostility from the United States, and armed rebellion by U.S.-backed Contras.Ortega was defeated by Violeta Barrios de Chamorro in the...
Guatemalan Elections...
The first round over with and the runoff to come in early November, the question is, will Guatemala follow the steps of many Latin American countries and go for a populist candidate or will Guatemalan history continue to reject the left? More so, what are the consequences for the US and in the world if this were to happen? Will there be a "dis balance" of power in the Americas?
what does the global stability index indicate
Nigeria, the most populous black nation has been ranked as an unstable market in a global study conducted by US-based research and consulting firm-Eurasia group. The Eurosia group’s global political Riosk Index,a political stability ranking for 24 emerging markets, awarded Nigeria a composite score of 50 and ranked her 23rd.The ranking showed Nigeria to be ahead of only Pakistan,South Africa seems to have the best result as it comfortably sit at the 10th position immediately after China.Nigeria is only ahead of Pakistan in the ranking,Pakistan is at the top bottom with composite score of 49 among 24 nations. But in spite of Nigeria’s lowest ranking,Eurasia group,in a statement by one of its analyst-Ross Schaap, admitted that Nigeria’s score improved over lasy year’s.It observed that in contrast to Ukraine and Turkey,Nigeria’s score showed that the country had made some progress.Specifically, the report acknowledged recent efforts aimed at stabilizing the polity were commendable.“despite a number of negative factors, including a questionable electoral process,post-election turmoil caused by the opposition’s intense resistance and persistent violence in the oil-rich...
What do you think of the outcome of the NEW 7 World Wonders contest?
Personally, I'm decepted. I think that something like a Latin American conspiracy has been going on (LOL). I miss the Taj Mahal very much, and others, too. Only the Pyramids and the Chinese Wall have my support. What do you think about? Did you pay attention to this contest (a commercial one, not organized by the UNESCO, the organization that declares world patrimony -after long classification and deliberation)? Did you vote? I confess that I did, although I realize that such questions cannot be decided by democratic means, but must be evaluated and argumented by expertise. Please, post your opinion.
